Interpretation

Rohingya interpretation services

Rohingya on the line, staffed from the community itself.

About the language

Rohingya at a glance

Rohingya is the language of the stateless Rohingya people, most of whom now live in refugee camps in Bangladesh or have been resettled abroad. We prioritise this language because the population is one of the most underserved by traditional interpretation networks.

Rohingya is primarily a spoken language for most of its speakers. It is closely related to the Chittagonian speech of southeastern Bangladesh, and spoken interpretation carries most communication with Rohingya communities โ€” so we staff interpreters from those communities directly.

Rohingya has approximately 1.8 million speakers, including 750,000+ in refugee camps. We cover the varieties listed here and can match a linguist to a specific region or community on request.

How we help

Four ways to work with a Rohingya interpreter

Pick the modality that fits the conversation. Every one draws on the same vetted roster and the same standards.

OPI

Over-the-phone

A Rohingya interpreter joins your call on demand, with no scheduling, apps or equipment. Built for short, urgent conversations.

VRI

Video remote

See each other while a Rohingya interpreter works on screen: clinical visits, depositions and anything where expression or documents matter.

On-site

In person

A Rohingya interpreter in the room for appointments, hearings, admissions and site visits where presence matters.

Conference

Meetings & events

Simultaneous or consecutive Rohingya interpretation for board meetings, trainings, town halls and conferences.

Where we work

Where Rohingya interpretation is needed most

We match each request on language, dialect and setting, because a good rendering of a diagnosis or a court instruction takes more than fluency.

  • Refugee resettlement
  • Asylum & UNHCR work
  • Healthcare & clinical
  • Legal & immigration
